Roofing and exterior questions, answered
What people ask Shawn Tabor most, with the answer first. If yours is not here, call or text and ask him.
Price
What does a new roof cost?
Every roof is different. Size, pitch, the shingle and what is under the old roof all move the price.
Shawn walks you through it at the free estimate, and your written estimate is the price.
What does a roof repair cost?
It depends on what is wrong and how far the damage has spread.
Shawn looks at it and gives you a written price before any work starts.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes. Shawn comes out, looks, takes photos and gives you a written price, and you owe nothing for it.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes, for the materials, and you get a receipt for it.
You can pay by check or card.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Please ask us about the financing options.
The longer version: Financing and how to pay.
Process
How soon can you come out?
Usually within two days of your call, text or form.
How long does a new roof take?
Most houses take one to two days from tear-off to cleanup.
Rain, a steep pitch or rotted decking under the old shingles can add a day. We tell you before we start, not after.
Do I need to be home?
Not for outside work, as long as we can get a ladder to the roof and a truck in the driveway.
For interior work somebody has to let us in. Shawn texts when the truck is on its way.
Who does the work?
Shawn’s crew, and on some work, such as gutters and interiors, subcontractors Shawn works with.
Shawn prices every job himself, so the person who looked at your roof is the person answerable for it.
Is Tabor licensed?
Licensed general contractor in New Castle. Insured.
What is the warranty?
All work is backed up by our workmanship warranty.
The longer version: About Shawn and Tabor, Roof replacement.
Insurance
What we do
- Inspect the roof and photograph the damage
- Measure it and write an estimate of what we found
- Talk to your insurer about the roof, and be there when the adjuster comes if we can
- Do the repair
What you do
- File the claim with your insurer
- Decide with your insurer what is covered and what is paid
- Choose your roofer
Your insurer decides what is covered.
Who files the claim?
You do, with your own insurer, usually on Shawn’s recommendation.
Our part is the roof: we inspect it, photograph the damage, measure it and write an estimate of what we found. Shawn talks to your insurer about the roof and tries to be there when the adjuster comes.
Will my insurance pay for the roof?
That is your insurer’s decision, not ours.
We will tell you honestly whether we see storm damage and show you the photos. Wind and hail leave marks that age and wear do not, and Shawn will show you which is which.
The longer version: Help with an insurance claim, Storm and hail damage.
Interiors
What inside work do you do?
Drywall, painting, flooring and some carpentry, for whole rooms and basements.
The longer version: Drywall, Interior painting.
