Interior painting in New Castle, Indiana
Whole rooms, ceilings and trim. Most of the time on a paint job goes into what happens before the can is opened: sanding, caulking and priming. We price that in and do it.
Shawn looks at every job himself before you get a price.
What goes into a paint job
Paint hides color. It does not hide what is under it, so the prep comes first.
Walls sanded and primed
Filled spots are sanded flat and primed, or they show as dull spots through two coats.
Ceilings with stains
A stain gets a stain-blocking primer before any ceiling paint, or it comes back through.
Trim caulked and painted
Baseboards, door casings and window trim are sanded dull, the gaps against the wall are caulked, and the trim is painted in a semi-gloss that can be wiped.
Kitchens and baths
New paint peels off grease and old gloss. Those walls are washed and scuff-sanded, and a bath gets a paint made for damp rooms.
A dark color going light, or the other way
A big color change takes a tinted primer and two coats. We tell you at the price stage, not on the day.
How a paint job goes
You call, text or send the form.
Tell us which rooms, and whether you want ceilings and trim done. You get a reply within 5 minutes.
Shawn comes out and gives you a written price.
It lists each room, what is painted in it, the prep and the paint.
You pick the colors.
Give us the color names from any paint store. The brand and finish are written on your estimate.
Prep.
Furniture moved and covered, floors covered, switch plates off, walls sanded, trim caulked, stains primed.
Paint, and a walk-through.
Ceiling first, then walls, then trim. Two coats. You walk the rooms with us before we pack up.

What the day is like
Shawn texts when the truck is on its way. Take pictures and small things off the walls and shelves the night before. We handle the furniture.
The rooms are out of use from when we start until the evening of the last coat. Paint is dry to the touch in an hour or two, but give it a day before pushing furniture against the wall.
The warranty
All work is backed up by our workmanship warranty.
Who does the work
Shawn Tabor prices every job, and the painting is done by a subcontractor Shawn works with.
Questions about interior painting
How much does it cost to paint?
It depends on how many rooms, the ceiling height, the prep and whether ceilings and trim are included. Shawn looks at it and gives you a written price before any work starts.
Do I have to move the furniture?
No. We move ordinary furniture to the middle of the room and cover it.
We ask you to take down pictures, clear shelves and unplug electronics.
Are ceilings, trim and doors included?
Only if the estimate lists them. Every estimate says, room by room, whether it covers walls, ceiling, baseboards and casings.
Who buys the paint, and what kind?
We do, and it is in the price. We use a mid-grade or better interior latex: flat on ceilings, eggshell on walls and semi-gloss on trim unless you ask for something else.
