Roof repair in New Castle, Indiana
Storm and wind damage, a failed valley, flashing that has let go at a chimney or a wall. Shawn looks at the whole roof, shows you the photos and repairs it properly, or tells you plainly if the roof is past repairing.
Shawn Tabor looks at every repair himself before you get a price.
Repairs we take on
Most of these you can see from the ground or from inside the house. Stay off the roof.
Wind damage across a slope
Wind off the open fields gets under the shingles on the west and south slopes first and takes them off in rows. We replace the damaged section and seal it into the shingles around it.
Hail damage
Bruised and cracked shingles, dented vents and flashing. We photograph every slope, which is what you and your insurer need to see.
A failed valley
Valleys carry more water than any other part of a roof. A worn or badly cut valley is torn out and rebuilt with new membrane and metal.
Flashing at a chimney or a wall
Old step flashing is often tarred over instead of replaced, and the tar cracks after a few winters. We strip it back and flash the chimney or wall properly.
Ice dam damage at the eaves
An ice dam pushes meltwater back under the first rows of shingles. Many older roofs here have no ice and water membrane at the eave. We rebuild the eave with it.
Rotted decking under the shingles
Where water has been getting in for a while, the wood under the shingles goes soft. It is cut out and replaced before new shingles go on.
You call, text or send the form.
Tell us what you are seeing. A photo helps. You get a reply within 5 minutes.
Shawn gets on the roof.
Usually within two days. He looks at the whole roof, not only the damaged part: every slope, the flashing, the vents and the attic side where he can reach it. He takes photos.
You get the photos and a written price.
The price covers the repair he showed you. If he thinks the roof is past repairing, he says so and tells you why.
We fix it.
We book the work for a dry day and send you photos of the finished repair.

What the day is like
We give you a morning or an afternoon, and we text when we are on the way. You do not need to be home, as long as we can get a ladder to the roof.
We tear back the damaged area, check the decking under it, replace anything soft, then lay new underlayment, flashing and shingles.
Before we leave we run a magnet over the lawn and the driveway for nails.
The warranty
All work is backed up by our workmanship warranty.
Who does the work
Shawn Tabor prices every repair himself, and the work is done by Shawn and his crew.
Questions about roof repair
Can it be repaired, or do I need a new roof?
If the shingles around the damage still lie flat and hold their granules, a repair is usually the right call.
If the roof is past about 20 years and leaking in more than one place, the repair money is better put toward a new roof. Shawn will tell you which he would do on his own house.
What does a roof repair cost?
It depends on how much of the roof is involved, the pitch and height, what is under the shingles and whether flashing has to be replaced. Shawn looks at it and gives you a written price before any work starts.
How fast can you get here?
Shawn usually comes out to look within two days.
Will the new shingles match the old ones?
Close, but rarely exactly. Shingles fade in the sun and makers change their colors every few years.
On a slope that faces the street we can move shingles from a less visible spot and put the new ones there.
Will my insurance pay for the repair?
That is your insurer’s decision. If wind or hail did the damage, we give you photos and a written estimate of what we found.
You file the claim, usually on Shawn’s recommendation. He talks to your insurer about the roof and tries to be there when the adjuster comes.
Do you repair roofs in winter?
Yes. Shingles can be laid in the cold, but their seal strips need a warm day to bond, so below about 40 degrees we seal each tab by hand.
If there is ice on the roof we come back when it is safe to walk.
Do you charge to come and look?
No. The roof inspection is free. You pay only if you go ahead with the repair.
